Once lights are up, no escape from effects

The excellent photo by Bev Horne, illustrating the Tuesday, Jan. 24 account of discussions at the Glen Ellyn village board meeting, really adds to Christopher Placek’s text reporting.

Rinda Allison had created a simple and clear visualization of the scale of the light structures (two 60-foot and four 70-foot poles) as they will stand in the field. Horne has captured the presentation clearly so that the reader can see and understand it. The photograph adds substance to the written news story.

It is not easy to visualize a constructed project from written descriptions and plan drawings. I hope the trustees will visit Memorial Field and think about the six great poles with the light structures — even in the daytime they will dominate the landscape.

Further, imagine the new masonry wall along the north side. And what of the sound system associated with the rest of the electrical work? Once all of this is built and operating, there will be no escape from its effects.
