S. Ind. cemetery with trouble history up for sale
MADISON, Ind. — A southern Indiana cemetery with a history of waterlogged graves is going up for sale.
The Madison Courier reports that the Grandview Memorial Gardens cemetery will be sold at a Feb. 23 sheriff’s sale after River Valley Financial Bank foreclosed. The ownership of the 41-acre cemetery about 40 miles northeast of Louisville, Ky., was disputed in lawsuits filed in 2006 that are still pending in court.
The cemetery gained widespread attention after seven bodies were exhumed several years ago to fix problems with waterlogged graves.
