Meet the Mandavilli Family - Weekly Ela Library Users Since 2010

It didn't take long for Lake Zurich residents Subbarao and Janaki Mandavilli to fall in love with their community and the Library when they moved to the area in 2007. A senior management professional and president of the Rotary Club of Lake Zurich, Subbarao and his wife Janaki, a senior product manager, recognized early on the benefits to childhood library trips and how it impacts their lives.

"Once our son Nishanth showed interest in reading, we frequently came to the library to find books in various categories. The visits increased with our daughter Nivedha who has a strong interest in exploring arts" recalls Subbarao. Eventually, the frequent visits became weekly outings. "Our kids' curiosity to read drove us here, and we have been stopping by every week for the past 12 years. It feels like a second home."

Over the years, the community-minded family of four continues to benefit from regular library visits. When asked about their favorite things at EAPL, it was hard to choose just one. "I would say there are many - the books, games and gaming equipment, print solutions, digital options, Forge, community events, volunteering opportunities and the evolving list of services you can explore," he shares. He also gives credit to library staff, "who listen to all our needs so well."

Beyond the bookshelves, the Mandavilli family are also fans of programs and activities. "We've had a lot fun attending events throughout the past 12 years," says Subbarao. "Even my mother who came from India last summer participated in some basic computer learning classes."

So, what are you doing this weekend? Take a trip to the library. There are endless benefits that will come.
