State regulator disciplines 283 for sex offenses

SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois state regulators have taken disciplinary action against hundreds of professional license holders after learning they had violated some provision of the professional practice law.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional regulation is taking action against 283 license holders and investigating 306 others whose names appear in the sex offender database or some other crime or violation.

The agency compared its list of more than one million license holders to criminal records after a consumer complained last spring about a real estate broker convicted of possessing child pornography. His license was indefinitely suspended.

The agency has begun disciplinary actions against 283 others who had committed offenses that jeopardize their licenses and are investigating 306 others.
