Household hazardous waste collection April 28 in Round Lake Beach
Have you started your spring cleaning? Did you find unwanted hazardous items or chemicals taking up space in your garage, shed, basement or home?
The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County has a program that accepts these household materials from residents.
SWALCO is announcing its first Mobile Household Chemical Waste event of the season on Saturday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Round Lake Beach Metra train station, 630 Hook Drive.
Mobile HCW events are held from spring to fall at locations around the county.
Appointments are not required for Mobile Household Chemical Waste events.
Lake County residents may simply come to the mobile location, drive through and drop off their HCW materials.
All household chemical waste collections are for residential waste only. Items you can bring to a collection include: CFL bulbs, unwanted prescription medicines and supplements (people and pet), household cleaners, gasoline, garden chemicals, pesticides, pool chemicals, driveway sealers, oil-based paints and varnishes (no latex), as well as other chemicals.

All HCW collection events sponsored by SWALCO are for Illinois residents only and are free — no business waste will be accepted. No electronics will be accepted.
