Local youth is Cross Country National Runner-Up

Isabella Alansari, 9 years old, was the National Runner-Up in her age group at the Coaches Cross Country Nationals held on Nov. 20 in Lexington, Ky. Isabella was one of 121 9-10-year-olds that ran in the girls bantam 3,000-meter race. She ran a 12:27 in the 3,000-meter, placing sixth overall, and second in her age group. Isabella runs for the Elgin Sharks, a youth running team comprised of 5-18 year-olds from neighboring towns. The Elgin Sharks Bantam (9-10) girls were the overall National Champs at the meet, beating out Philadelphia CYO by 2 points.
