Help plant 600 oak trees in Schweitzer Woods Sept. 28
Submitted by Kane County Forest Preserve District
Help plant 600 oak trees in under three hours! As part of National Public Lands Day, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County is calling for volunteers of all ages to help plant trees on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Schweitzer Woods Forest Preserve, 16N900 Sleepy Hollow Road, West Dundee.
This event is one of many that will take place across the country on Sept. 28. National Public Lands Day is America’s largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands. This is the event’s 20th year.
Tree planting begins at 10 a.m. sharp, and will last until all 600 oaks are planted, or 1 p.m. — whichever comes first. Bring work gloves if you prefer. Holes are pre-dug. They will need volunteers to add trees, tamp down dirt, water and mulch.
It’s easy! This is a great event for families, scouts, groups or individuals.
Be a part of planting trees that will last for hundreds of years, and future generations will enjoy.
