Aurora man accused of beating, robbing ex-girlfriend

An Aurora man was charged with aggravated domestic battery and robbery after police said he hit his former girlfriend in the face, then took her purse, at 1:52 a.m. Thursday.

Victor Torres, 24, of the 1500 block of Auburn Avenue, turned himself in to St. Charles police later that day. He appeared in Kane County bond court Friday afternoon and was being held on $75,000 bail, according to court records.

The 21-year-old woman was treated for facial injuries at Delnor Hospital and released.

The victim told police she was returning with friends to her home in St. Charles when they noticed all the windows on a friend’s vehicle had been broken, and Torres was standing in front of the victim’s home. The victim told the driver to drive past and drop her off down the block to avoid a confrontation.

She said Torres ran up to her and hit her in the face, knocking her unconscious, police said. When she recovered, she discovered her purse was missing, walked home and called 911, police said.

The purse was found in Torres’ vehicle, police said.

Torres is also charged with felony criminal damage to property.
