Dems file election complaint against Wis. gov

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Democratic Party has filed a new complaint alleging Gov. Scott Walker committed a campaign finance violation by not reporting the purchasing of Internet web domain names by a former aide who has been charged with embezzlement.

The complaint filed Friday with the Government Accountability Board alleges Walker’s campaign did not account for the purchases as in-kind contributions or reimburse Tim Russell, Walker’s former deputy chief of staff while Milwaukee County executive.

The criminal complaint released Thursday shows that Russell purchased a variety of domain names in support of Walker’s run for governor.

Walker campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews says none of the domain names are associated with or used by the campaign and the purchases were not authorized by Walker.

She says the complaint is frivolous.
