Laziness can eat away at the quality of our lives

“He who is loose and slack in his work is brother to him who is destroyed.” #8212; Proverbs 18:9 (AMP)

A while ago, my husband was tired of mixing up his daily vitamin powder. So he stopped that daily routine.

When he started losing some of his vigor, he realized that taking his vitamins was a vital component in keeping his energy level up. He faced the fact that he had been lax and lazy in blending the ingredients each day, and it was destroying his desire to complete some of his tasks.

After identifying that this was the root of the problem, he quickly decided to get back into his daily routine. Within days his energy level was rising.

Have you ever realized laziness destroys us? It comes to steal our motivation and ruin our lives.

I#146;m not talking about the normal rest and relaxation we need. But the lax attitude that subtly works its way into our daily life, and before you know it, our dreams, relationships, and health are in a shambles.

Laziness causes some people to drop out of exercise routines because it takes too much effort. Others leave the vocation of their dreams when going to school or taking time for homework gets in the way of leisure time.

Some people lose the desire to go to work. Laziness directs them to live a life of poverty and deprives them of the ability to fulfill a dream or perform a God-given task.

Oftentimes, relationships are destroyed when a spouse gets too lazy to say a kind word or go out of their way to do something for the other.

Laziness creeps its way in and causes great destruction in our spiritual lives as well. We may find we don#146;t feel like praying. We may desire to stay at home from church or not do a Bible study just because we#146;d rather sleep in or we don#146;t feel like it.

Our human nature likes to be motivated by outside influences. Sometimes, these can be good motivators. But face it #8212; life becomes mundane. We can#146;t always expect something to stir our feelings and keep us motivated.

Laziness is a negative spiritual force. When laziness cause a threat to our lives, we need to ask God to strengthen us from within and use the God-given spirit of self-discipline to combat the destructive forces of laziness.
