No lighting decision in Barrington Hills this year

The Barrington Hills village board will likely pick up its discussion of a controversial outdoor lighting ordinance in January, as not all trustees will be present at the Monday, Dec. 20 board meeting, Village President Robert Abboud said.

Trustees are working with Village Attorney Donald Wambach to draft a new version of the “dark skies” ordinance for consideration. The new draft will be based on suggestions made by board members at the November meeting.

Board members have suggested ways of loosening up the original draft of regulations particularly in regard to security lighting, but still prefer that most “unnecessary,” decorative lighting be shut off by 11 p.m.
