Decapitated body found in Chicago apartment

Chicago police are investigating after finding the decapitated body of a 41-year-old man inside an apartment on the city’s Northwest Side.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported the body was found around 2 a.m. on Christmas in a basement apartment.

An 18-year-old man who was standing outside the building was taken into custody. Police spokeswoman Amina Greer says charges are pending.

Authorities haven’t provided many details of the case, including the relationship of the two men. But Greer says a knife was found at the scene.

The name of the man who died hasn’t been released. The medical examiner’s office said Wednesday that an autopsy isn’t expected until later.
