Buffalo Grove crowns homecoming court

Buffalo Grove High School’s 2011 Homecoming week, Do You Believe in Magic? ran from Monday through Saturday, Oct. 15.

The student council planned a spirited, “magical” week of activities and events for students, staff, and alumni. Each day the student body participate in dress-up days, play lunchtime games, and after-school and evening activities, leading up to the traditional Homecoming Coronation and football game Friday, and culminating in the Homecoming Dance Saturday.

The week included Harry Potter Day Thursday, with students wearing costumes reminiscent of the magical world of Hogwarts. That evening at the home girls’ volleyball game vs. Prospect High School, there was a special tribute to veteran volleyball coach Marianne O’Shea’s long and successful coaching career. O’Shea will retire in June.

On Friday, students wore blue and orange or spirit wear. The Blue Crew and freshman class co-sponsored arm wrestling matches during lunches. The coronation/homecoming assembly was between 7th and 8th periods in the gym.
