Person struck by vehicle in Palatine
A child or young adult was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon on Rand Road near Dundee Road, police said.
Police said the victim was struck at 3:26 p.m. on the 1500 block of North Rand Road in front of the McDonald’s, just south of Dundee Road.
Initial reports indicate the victim was possibly attempting to cross the street when he or she was hit, Palatine Police Sgt. Larry Canada said.
The road was shut down between Dundee Road and Winslowe Drive for about 3½ hours as police investigated the crash, Canada said.
The victim was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in an unknown condition, according to police.
Police said the driver was cooperative and no charges had been filed as of Sunday night.
