Elgin concert to benefit the hungry
A free concert to benefit Feeding Greater Elgin featuring the Elgin Symphony Orchestra will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in Wing Park, off Wing St. in Elgin.

This beloved summer tradition returns when the ESO performs in Wing Park Aug. 13. Stephen Squires, ESO’s associate conductor of 20 years, will conduct the orchestra in a program of time-tested favorites. Elizabeth Norman, 2011-12 featured soloist, performs as vocalist.
Feeding Greater Elgin is a new nonprofit organization formed to address critical hunger need in the greater Elgin community. Through innovative partnerships and mobile pantry food distributions, more than 72,000 pounds of food have been distributed to hundreds of Elgin families in need. Future plans include a permanent facility site for food distribution.
The concert is free; no tickets are required. Bench seating at Wing Park is limited. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs.
