Illinois to mark JFK assassination anniversary

Illinois will mark the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination with a moment of silence and flags flying at half-staff.

Gov. Pat Quinn will observe a moment of silence at 1 p.m. at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont where he’s scheduled to address the 11th Annual Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation conference. That’s the time when Kennedy was pronounced dead on Nov. 22, 1963.

The governor has ordered the flags at all state facilities be flown at half-staff. And in Chicago, the city council passed a resolution to fly all the city and state flags at half-staff as well as urge churches to toll their bells.

Kennedy was shot to death in Dallas.
