Enjoy ‘Christmas in Pine Box’ at Meadows church dinner theater

“Hustle and bustle” … sadly, this has become a description of the holiday season.

Yet, each year, the Community Church of Rolling Meadows attempts to alleviate that frustration, at least for one evening, by going back in time to the good ol’ days. A themed dinner is provided, followed by a radio play. Previous productions have been: “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Life With Father” and “Once Upon A Midnight Clear.”

This year’s presentation, “Christmas in a Pine Box,” will be Saturday evening, Dec. 7. The audience will be taken back to Dec. 24, 1941 to a small country church in Brown County, Ind.

The very unconventional, and at times irreverent, gospel group, the Taylor family lead the traditional Christmas Eve worship service at the Pine Box Church. It turns out to be an evening of fun and surprises. Tickets for the dinner/theater are $25 each. Because there is limited seating for the dinner, tickets must be purchased in advance, either by stopping by the church, 2720 Kirchoff Road, by calling (847) 255-5510 or online at www.communitychurchrm.com.

Tickets for the play are $15. Dinner is at 6 p.m.; the radio play begins at 7:30 p.m.
