An Elgin man was arrested after breaking into the home of his estranged wife earlier this week, police said.
Donnie L. Beavers, 58, was arrested on Thursday, authorities said. Elgin police responded to a domestic violence report around 9 p.m. Wednesday on the 2000 block of Niagra Court, according a news release from the Elgin Police Department.
The victim told police Beavers forced his way into the home and a physical struggle ensued, during which Beavers showed a weapon. She was not injured and was able to escape and call police.
Officers eventually located Beavers on the 2000 block of Toftrees Trail, police said, and the department’s tactical response team helped to resolve the incident early Thursday morning. A search warrant was executed at the Toftrees location, and officers found several handgun magazines and rounds of ammunition were recovered, according to the news release.
Beavers has been charged with home invasion, armed violence, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, all felonies, and criminal trespass to a residence and violation of an order of protection, both misdemeanors. He is being held at the Kane County jail and is due in bond court Saturday morning.
