Surprise mom!

For as long as we have lived in our house (over a decade) my mom has dreamed of making our living room into a room she loves.

She wants to really be proud of our home. And every time she starts saving up to do just that, something happens and the living room makeover is postponed. As you can see the couch is ripped up and very old.

The coffee table, is no longer a table because the glass shattered and the corners have been sawed down by the puppy. The carpet has been on the ground since before the house was ours, and the walls are boring and bare.

Now, my mother has no idea I am going to submit this entry, but if by chance this entry is seen in your paper I hope my mom knows how special and amazing she is!

She works extremely hard to keep this family with food on the table and a roof over our heads.

I am entering this contest with just a small hope that the Daily Herald might choose us to win, and if that were to happen, she would receive the makeover she has been dreaming of!

Thank you for considering our entry and how happy my mom would be if this dream was a reality.

On this project, to bring the room together, a cozy space plan of pulling the furniture away from the wall also  provides for easy traffic flow to the sliding door. Furniture selections will be smaller scale with cleaner lines, like the Tilly group by Klaussner in a neutral fabric for the sofa and love seat and accent chair in a coordinating fabric. The Martin entertainment center provides storage for the television and other components as well as display area for the homeowner’s decorative items, add coordinating cocktail and end tables. A neutral warm paint choice for the wall with a colorful piece of artwork, and a bold rug by Surya will bring additional pop to the room.
