White Sox make four roster moves

CLEVELAND - Prior to this afternoon's game at Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox recalled outfielder Alejandro De Aza and catcher Tyler Flowers from Class AAA Charlotte, purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Gregory Infante from Class AA Birmingham and designated right-hander Clevelan Santeliz for assignment.

De Aza, 26, hit .302 (96-318) with 21 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 49 RBI, 53 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 79 games Charlotte this season. The 6-foot, 175-pounder appeared in 67 major-league games with Florida in 2007 and 2009, hitting .232 (38-164). De Aza will wear uniform No. 30.

Flowers, 24, batted .220 (76-346) with 16 home runs and 53 RBI in 100 games with the Knights this season. He was selected to the International League midseason All-Star Team and entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the No. 2 Prospect in the White Sox organization. Flowers, 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, appeared in 10 games with the Sox in 2009, going 3-16 (.188). He will wear uniform No. 17.

Infante, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, went a combined 3-4 with a 3.45 ERA (23 ER/60.0 IP), 12 saves and 69 strikeouts in 55 games this season between Class A Winston Salem and Birmingham. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 47.

Santeliz, 24, went 1-4 with a 4.65 ERA (26 ER/50.1 IP), two saves and 49 strikeouts in 36 games with Charlotte in 2010.

With the moves, the White Sox active roster is at 28 players, and the 40-man roster is at 40.
