Pedestrian struck by train near Palatine still unidentified

The Cook County medical examiner’s office is listing the death of an unidentified man who was struck by a Metra train in Palatine Friday evening as “accidental.”

Police have not released any details of the man’s death.

The medical examiner’s office merely lists him as a white male in his 50s.

Metra officials said the outbound commuter train left Union Station at 6:01 p.m. and was at Baldwin Road, between the Palatine and Barrington stations, when the accident occurred.

Trains were delayed until 10 p.m., officials said.
