Barn Sale back at Kane County Fairgrounds
The St. Peter Barn Sale is going back to its roots as a one-weekend event after experimenting last year with monthly sales.
The rummage sale is Saturday and Sunday at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles.
Barn Sale committee Co-Chairman Ron Volk said the fairgrounds provides more room to display merchandise and allows for wider aisles for shoppers.
It also enables the committee to sell breakfast, lunch and baked goods.
“The sale is so large that it takes several hours to visit all of the various departments,” Volk said.
The rummage sale will feature housewares, furniture, hardware, sporting goods, clothing, electronic items and more.
Items that remain unsold are donated to charities, including Catholic Charities, Wayside Cross, Lazarus House and Hesed House.
Proceeds from the Barn Sale help St. Peter Catholic Church of Geneva pay its building parish debt. The Barn Sale started at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in St. Charles for a similar purpose, moved to St. Peter’s, then was held for 10 years at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia, and returned two years ago to St. Peter’s.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Each day breakfast is served starting one hour before the gates open. Admission is free. A $1 donation is asked for parking.
There are also early-bird specials that are now available. For information, go to http://stpeterchurch.com/site/brnsl_homev2_photo.htm.
The fairgrounds are at 525 S. Randall Road.
