Fireworks scofflaws disturb communities

I appreciate fireworks on the 4th of July as a wonderful way to celebrate our country's independence. Together with some patriotic music, it is even better.

But these celebrations belong in a controlled environment. In recent years, this celebration has been violated by people who decide to set off fireworks of their own - and well after the event.

At my home in Arlington Heights, I heard all three of the celebrations from my own town, Palatine and Buffalo Grove. They all ended by 11 p.m.

However, the fireworks continued that night in our area until well after 3 a.m. Not only that, but fireworks continued on July 5 in our neighborhood as well until after midnight.

My question is, does AH have an ordinance against this intrusion and if so, why is it not being enforced?

And to our neighbors, some of whom disrespect the rest of us, why can't you celebrate with less noise, especially since it bothers our animals, our veterans of war and the elderly?
