Wayne police investigating residential burglary

Wayne police are investigating a residential burglary that occurred late Monday while the residents were asleep upstairs, authorities say.

An unknown offender entered the home in the Woods of Wayne subdivision about 11 p.m. through a rear window and removed some small personal items, according to a village news release. The homeowners observed an individual outside their residence after being alerted of the break-in by their dog.

Anyone who witnessed a suspicious person or vehicle in the area is encouraged to contact Wayne police at (630) 584-3031 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekdays or at (630) 232-8400 after hours.

Residents who have exterior surveillance cameras or Ring doorbells are asked to review their video footage and report useful information.
