Traffic limited on Memorial Rd during school hours
A special traffic plan is being implemented before and after school on Memorial Road in Bensenville for the month of May as construction begins on an addition to Tioga School, 212 W. Memorial Road.
The school is losing its off-street bus loading zone to the construction zone, so school buses will be loading and unloading on Memorial Road. To make this as safe as possible, other traffic on Memorial Road will be limited.
Before and after school, between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. and 3:00 to 3:45 p.m., on school days beginning May 2, parent and neighborhood traffic will be required to use the north-south side streets. There will be barricades blocking traffic on Memorial during these time periods, and there will be no parking allowed on Memorial on school days. This traffic plan will be in effect until the last day of school, May 26.
The traffic plan was developed with the input from Bensenville police, parents, and
community members. Builders will be working through the summer to build a new
parent drop-off lane at the rear of Tioga School off Addison Street. A bus drop-off lane will be built along Memorial Road and is expected to be ready by late fall. Traffic patterns for the start of school in August will be determined closer to the opening of school.
