Carpentersville woman dies in Texas rollover

A Carpentersville woman died early Sunday morning in a rollover crash in Texas.

A 50-year-old Round Lake Beach man was driving an SUV on a Texas highway when he drifted off the roadway into the center median about 4:50 a.m., according to Texas authorities. The driver then overcorrected and drove across the two-lane roadway into a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over several times.

Maria G. Hernandez, 47, was ejected from the 1996 Ford Explorer and was pronounced dead soon after the crash, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Matt Kuhlengel.

The driver and three other people in the vehicle were injured in the crash and were listed in stable condition, according to police.

The injured passengers were a 47-year-old Round Lake Beach woman, a 13-year-old girl from Round Lake Beach and a 47-year-old Carpentersville man.

Police said Hernandez was not wearing a seat belt when the vehicle rolled in the ditch about 120 miles northeast of Dallas.
