Another man arrested in slaying of off-duty police officer
Chicago police say they have arrested a third suspect in the 2011 shooting death of an off-duty officer.
In a Friday night release, the department says that 25-year-old Alexander Villa of Chicago has been charged with first-degree murder of a police officer, aggravated battery and armed robbery with a firearm, in the slaying of officer Clifton Lewis.
In January of 2012, police arrested Edgardo Colon and Tyrone Clay on charges of first-degree murder of a police officer and murder while in the commission of a forcible felony. At the time, police said they believed others were involved.
The 41-year-old Lewis was working as a security guard at a West Side convenience store when he was killed trying to break up a robbery on the night of Dec. 29, 2011.
