Fest adds youth one-mile run
Runners take your mark. A Youth One Mile Run has been added to the Windmill City Festival line up for 2011 in addition to the popular Windmill Whirl 5K Run.
Kick off Windmill City Festival weekend with a competitive, short road race for children age 3 and older at 6 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Batavia Riverwalk, Houston Street at Island Avenue. Parents are welcome to escort runners on the course, which will follow the Fox River Trail.
Runners will be timed and awards will be given to the top three boys and top three girls as well as the top three runners in each age division. Bicycles, strollers and dogs are not allowed on the racecourse. The first 100 registrants will be guaranteed a T-shirt. Registration forms are available online at www.bataviaparks.org. The cost is $15 on the day of the race. Race day registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. in front of City Hall, 151 N. Island Ave., Batavia.
More experienced runners are invited to tackle the Windmill Whirl 5K Run at 7 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Batavia Riverwalk.
Awards will be given to the top three overall males and females and the top three runners in each age division.
The first 200 registrants will be guaranteed a T-shirt. Registration forms are available online at www.bataviaparks.org. The cost is $30 on the day of the race. Race day registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. in front of City Hall, 151 N. Island Ave.
