Three injured in Elgin rollover
Three people were injured, including a 4-year-old, when their SUV rolled over in Elgin just before noon Tuesday.
Police arrived on the scene about 11:40 a.m. on the 1400 block of Larkin Avenue and found a Ford Explorer upright, but with its roof and windshield caved in, Elgin Police spokeswoman Sue Olafson said.
The 22-year-old driver of the Ford, her 4-year-old son and a 23-year-old passenger were taken to St. Joseph Provena Hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
The car rolled over completely after the driver of a 2008 Honda Accord pulling out of a parking lot clipped the back of the Explorer, causing it to fishtail and flip, according to Olafson.
The driver and passenger in the Honda were not injured in the crash.
The driver of the Honda, a 58-year-old Elgin woman, was cited for failure to yield from a private drive, according to police.
