Naperville police arrest Chicago man for gas station burglary

A Chicago man has been charged in connection with a Dec. 4 gas station burglary in Naperville.

Christie K. Lopez, of the 900 block of E. 83rd St. in Chicago, was arrested Monday and charged with one count each of burglary and theft and two counts of criminal damage to property. A Will County judge this week granted a motion from prosecutors to detain Lopez.

Naperville police responded to a gas station in the 2800 block of Book Rd. on Dec. 4 for a report of a burglary that had occurred overnight. Video surveillance showed two people forced their way into the gas station around 3:48 a.m. and stole $10,000 in merchandise and cash. The two also caused significant damage to the store and the ATM inside the store.

The department’s investigation into the identity of the second offender continues.
