Des Plaines Walgreens now full-service liquor stores

The Des Plaines City Council Monday night adopted on second reading the expansion of liquor sales at four Walgreens locations.
Local Walgreens stores have been selling beer and wine since January 2010. Now, the four Walgreens stores on Oakton Street, Golf Road, Rand Road, and Miner Street are allowed to operate full-service liquor departments.
The vote was 6-1 for the expansion of liquor sales with 6th Ward Alderman Mark Walsten voting against and 4th Ward Alderman Dick Sayad abstaining because he owns Walgreens stock.
