BG writers reprimand the reprimanders

We find today's front page article in the Daily Herald addressing the Buffalo Grove board's reprimand of Village President Elliott Hartstein's recent behavior very discouraging for our town's residents.

Quoting the article, “the draft resolution states that Hartstein's actions are neither countenanced, condoned nor ratified by the Village Board.”

This is simply stating the obvious as no resident or board member could possibly condone what happened. So what is the Board thinking and why are they drafting a reprimand?

We believe this reprimand is a political ploy intended to distance the other board members from Hartstein as they look to enhance their individual chances for re-election next April.

Not only will this reprimand not improve or help our village or our residents, it is counterproductive as it is another distraction and takes time away from the real issues that they should be addressing.

We continue to be appalled by the political posturing and behavior of everyone involved. It started with Hartstein's juvenile behavior, to Berman's letter to the editor expressing outrage even though he seemed to enjoy Hartstein's parody, to the board's current reprimand resolution.

We would like to reprimand the board for both their continued objectionable behavior and their terrible judgment to drag this episode on with their reprimand resolution.

Our hope is that other qualified candidates step forward in April so we can vote the “good old boys” out of office.
