Chain O' Lakes church to host “Stand with Israel” event Aug. 31.
The Chain O' Lakes Community Bible Church will host the event “Stand with Israel — Americans joining together in understanding, why Israel matters.”
The event is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the church, 43 W. Grass Lake Road, Lake Villa.
The church urges leaders and laymen across America to express their support for Israel and to stand against any action that would jeopardize its existence and secure position as an independent state.
The 75-minute event will feature keynote speakers Michael Rydelnik and George Sweeting discussing how the foundation of America and Israel are connected.
Rydelnik is professor of Jewish Studies at the Moody Bible Institute where he has taught since 1994. The son of Holocaust survivors, Rydelnik is a biblical scholar specializing in the Hebrew Bible, the Jewish people, the land of Israel, and biblical prophecy. He can be heard Wednesdays at 7:15 a.m. on WMBI-FM answering listener Bible questions.
Sweeting has served at the Moody Bible Institute for more than 30 years, first as president for 16 years, then as chancellor, and now as chancellor emeritus.
Before that, he served as the senior pastor of historic Moody Church in Chicago.
An author of more than 30 books, he has traveled worldwide as an evangelist for over 40 years.
The event will have live music and a representative from the Jewish Consulate present.
