Gail Borden library to celebrate honor
In honor of its community partnerships and receipt of the award of the National Medal for Museum and Library Service, Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, invites you to its Community Celebration from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 15.
At 2 p.m., members of Pan Chicago steel drum band will perform outside the main entrance, welcoming visitors to the library. At 2:30 p.m., there will be "A Taste of Elgin" with food samples from several area restaurants. Magician Ken Mate and juggler Andy Head will perform.
The Jesse White Tumblers perform at 3 p.m. outside the library.
At 3:30 p.m., there will be performances by students in Elgin Area School District U-46 music and dance programs.
In addition, there will be "guest appearances" throughout the afternoon by library namesake Gail Borden, President Abraham Lincoln and Galileo.
There will be encores for the Rocket Ride, Dino Stompers, Dinos-on-Parade and the library's very own Astronauts.
