Hoffman Estates took good care of its residents
We all survived the 2011 Blizzard, but certain events should be noted.
My home was one that lost power around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday. (On) Wednesday a.m. I received an automated phone message stating the name and address of the warming station and that if I needed a ride, I could call the nonemergency police department phone number. I also received an automated call from Groot about garbage pickup.
Then around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, there was a knock on my front door from a police officer asking if I was OK and if I needed a ride to the warming station. I told him that I was about to leave to spend the night with a friend in Hoffman Estates who was not affected by the power outage.
I was very impressed by the police department checking to see if the residents who were without power were OK. Public Works deserves credit for clearing the streets as soon as was possible. The village streets were in better shape than the state and county roads.
Kudos to the Village Hoffman Estates for the way they handled the Blizzard of 2011.
