Music notes: 2 nights of Willie at the Paramount
2 nights of Nelson
Fans of Willie Nelson have two chances to see him perform next week at the Paramount in Aurora. The country legend has recorded more than 100 albums, and now's your chance to see him (and his family) live.
8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 11-12, at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora. Tickets cost $69-$89. (630) 896-6666 or paramountaurora.com.
Nostalgia trips
Baby boomers can relive their younger days during two tribute shows happening this weekend in Lincolnshire. The first show takes place Friday and features Paradise Waits, a band that brings the music of The Grateful Dead back to psychedelic life. On Saturday, the band ABBA Salute will take the stage and deliver an eerily accurate re-creation of the Swedish pop legends. Pick a show — or go to both — and take a trip down memory lane.
Paradise Waits and its opening band, Phish tribute group The Vasoconstrictors, perform at 9 p.m. Friday, April 6, and ABBA Salute performs at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Viper Alley, 275 Parkway Drive, Lincolnshire. Tickets start at $10 for both shows. Go to viper-alley.com.
Lolla time
The lineup for Lollapalooza 2012 won't be formally announced until Wednesday, April 11, but three-day passes for the annual rock festival are already on sale. The passes cost $230 and can be purchased at lollapalooza.com. The 2012 edition of the show will take place Aug. 3-5 at Chicago's Grant Park. Lollapalooza is one of the key music events of the summer, and its lineups usually feature several big-name headliners along with dozens of up-and-coming bands. Last year's bill included headliners Coldplay and Eminem, along with indie groups like The Black Lips and Smith Westerns.
