Palatine High School closed by power problems
Students are scheduled back in classrooms today after a Monday morning power outage canceled school at Palatine High School.
While crews quickly restored power to the majority of the school, some athletic facilities remained without electricity until late Monday, ComEd spokeswoman Marie Turrell said. Some sports practices were canceled Monday but they will resume today.
Officials believe a problem with an underground cable that feeds the school knocked out power, Turrell said. Only four power customers were affected by the outage.
Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 spokesman Tom Petersen said parents were notified through the school's emergency notice system and buses were brought in at 10:30 a.m. to ferry students home.
