Photographer to offer tips for capturing nature

“Nature Up Close: Macro Photography” is the topic of the Lake-to-Prairie chapter of the Wild Ones meeting from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the Fremont Public Library, 1170 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein.

Noted photographer Joan Sayre, who is known for her “close up and personal” style of photography that makes heavy use of a macro lens, will present images that will amaze the senses.

She'll show images of the colorful flora and tiny fauna found in Lake County, and in our own backyards, including Frost & Ice; Butterflies & Moths; Flowers & Mushrooms; Dragonflies & Damselflies; Insects; Spiders; and Reptiles.

For those with basic photo equipment, Sayre also will share simple, easy-to-follow techniques to begin photographing nature. She'll answer questions about the basics of composition and light, and point out some of the must-know settings that can be found on virtually any camera.
