Fever topples Sky, 69-63; preseason rematch Monday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Chicago Sky fell to the Indiana Fever 69-63 Friday at Conseco Fieldhouse, suffering its first loss of the preseason after opening with two wins.

The Sky will close out the WNBA preseason on Monday with a 6 p.m. rematch against the Fever at Allstate Arena. The Sky opens the regular season on the road May 15, with its home opener May 22.

There were 22 lead changes in Friday's game, and former Maryland all-American guard Kristi Toliver's team-leading 14 points were not enough to help the Sky overcome Eshaya Murphy and the rest of her Fever teammates.

"I thought both teams came out sloppy to start the game," Toliver said. "At half time we decided we needed to work more on rebounding. We were able to find a lot of things we need to work on. We are still trying to find our rhythm."

The Sky ended the first half with a 29-28 lead over Indiana, but a 41-point second half from the Fever was the difference.

Sky rookie center Abi Olajuwon had her best game of the pre-season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 7 rebounds, all offensive.

The Sky will close out the preseason on Monday with a 6 p.m. rematch against the Fever at Allstate Arena.
