Fire damages Hampshire garage
An unattached garage fire in Hampshire on Friday afternoon left $100,000 worth of damages, authorities said.
The fire on the 300 block of South Avenue broke out at 2:48 p.m., with heavy flames showing from the front overhead door. It was under control in about 20 minutes; damage was contained to the garage, according to Capt. Trevor Herrmann of the Hampshire Fire Protection District.
He said firefighters had to be rotated out every 30 minutes due to the high temperatures and humidity.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
