Signal Hill, NSDAR delivers Halloween fun
To commemorate the DAR's National Day of Service, members of Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, packed individual baskets with games, small toys, books, pencils and markers and other small items intended for young patients at UChicago Medicine's Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago.
The chapter delivered 54 baskets and several boxes of assorted items just in time for Halloween.
"The children are not able to receive candy, so we found another way to deliver some Halloween fun," Chapter Regent Joyce Wright said.
The Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, was founded in Barrington in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. Since its founding in 1890, more than 1 million women have joined both nationally and around the world.
Membership in NSDAR is open to any woman 18 and older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
