Brady outlines ‘New Direction’ at Elmhurst College

Illinois state senator and gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady will present “A New Direction for Illinois” as the next speaker in Elmhurst College’s lecture series, “Fixing Illinois: A Great State’s Problems and Promise.”

His talk will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center, 190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst. Admission is free.

A Republican state senator from Bloomington, Brady has served in the Illinois Senate since 2002 and previously was elected to four terms in the state House of Representatives. He announced his third bid for governor in June and has said his campaign will focus on the state’s fiscal issues. As the 2010 Republican nominee for governor, he won 98 of the state’s 102 counties.

In the state Senate, Brady is an assistant Senate Republican Leader, the ranking Republican on the Senate Insurance Committee, and a member of the transportation, state government and veterans affairs, agriculture and conservation, and environment committees.

He has been honored by the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Civil Justice League and the Illinois Farm Bureau for his achievements in the General Assembly.

In June, Elmhurst College launched the lecture series with the goal of starting an ongoing discussion about the challenges Illinois faces and empowering citizens to help address those challenges and move the state forward.

Previous speakers include gubernatorial candidates Bruce Rauner and state Sen. Kirk Dillard, as well as state representatives Dennis Reboletti and Jeanne Ives, and political commentator Dan Proft.
