Carmel High School stages classic musical 'Brigadoon

Carmel Catholic High School students will present "Brigadoon" this weekend as their annual spring musical.

The story shows how the power of true love is tested, when New York socialites Tommy Albright and Jeff Douglas stumble into Brigadoon while on a hunting vacation. This town comes to life for one day every 100 years. No one can leave the town or the spell will be broken. Tommy, who has a fiancee waiting for him back home, falls in love with Fiona, and must decide whether his love for Fiona is worth giving up everything and everyone he knows.

"Brigadoon" is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Standards such as "Waitin' For My Dearie," "I'll Go Home With Bonnie Jean," "Come To Me, Bend To Me," and "Almost Like Being In Love," are featured in this delightful love story.

Carmel Catholic's Fine Arts students are a dedicated group of talented students who are interested in excellence in theater and the arts. Under the direction of enthusiastic Fine Arts faculty members, these students have the opportunity to participate in plays, musicals, and instrumental and choral presentations throughout the school year. Not only do students learn to sing, act, and perform, but also they are given the opportunity to learn lighting, set design, staging and promotion for a well-rounded fine arts education experience.
