Hanover Park man gets 18 months after fourth arrest
A Cook County judge sentenced a Hanover Park man to 18 months in prison Tuesday in exchange for his guilty plea to driving on a revoked license.
“I'm sorry,” said Jerry Holt, whose license was suspended in 2000 for DUI. “I will never drive again until I get my affairs straightened out.”
Holt was stopped on the morning of Sept. 16 for driving 36 miles per hour in a 20 mph zone and was then arrested on charges of driving on a revoked license. The arrest marked the fourth time the 57-year-old had been charged with that offense, prosecutors said.
At the time of his arrest, Holt was on parole for a 2009 theft conviction, prosecutors said during his September bond hearing. Prosecutors also informed the court that Holt had a similar case involving his revoked license pending in Will County.
Holt received credit for the 75 days he has spent in custody since his arrest. He must complete at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
