No appointment necessary for mammogram at Woman’s Imaging Center

The Women’s Imaging Center at Presence Holy Family Medical Center is making it easier and more convenient for today’s busy women to tend to their recommended annual mammography screening.

There’s no more waiting weeks or even months like at most diagnostic imaging centers to take preventive measures in screening for early breast cancer detection, instead women can simply walk into the Women’s Imaging Center — without an appointment and without a physician’s order.

Presence HFMC offers the most advanced technology in digital mammography and is the first imaging center in Northwest Chicago and the surrounding suburbs to welcome walk-ins for a screening mammogram without a physician order. Walk-in appointments are treated with the same great care as advance appointments, and are seamlessly worked into the day’s schedule so patients can be seen as soon as possible. Results are available within 24 hours of the test.

If the patient does not have a primary care doctor, a Presence HFMC physician will be assigned to review the results in order to make sure accurate follow-up and treatment are received as necessary. In addition to screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy and other imaging services are available.

The Women’s Imaging Center is a designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR), and features a spa atmosphere with tranquil music, heated robes and a patient resource center. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday — Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Evening appointments are also available by calling (847) 813-3273.
