Scouting Fremd at Buffalo Grove
Fremd (0-3) at Buffalo Grove (2-1)
When: 6:30 p.m. Thursday
Last week: Fremd lost 29-22 to Elk Grove; BG d. Conant 21-18
Outlook: Buffalo Grove looks to take a big step toward ending a seven-year playoff drought while Fremd needs to take a big step to continue its MSL-record streak of 15 straight postseason trips. "We know they're going to be fired up and ready to play," said BG coach and 1993 Fremd grad Jim Farrell. "Fremd is going to win games. Their formula to win football games is running the football and playing great defense and that's what they're going to do." Putting the ball in QB Mike Garrity's hands last week for 294 total yards and 3 rushing TDs and an opportunistic defense with INTs by Dan Recht and Richie Zirngibl was part of the Bison's winning formula last week. Turnovers have been costly for Fremd, which got 141 yards rushing last week with RB-LB Justin Wallace. "We're still pounding away and our kids' attitudes are good," said Fremd coach Mike Donatucci. "They're still working hard and hopefully there will be a payoff. This is a huge game for us and the last two games have been huge, too." Fremd has won the last three meetings of a series BG leads 17-13.
