Sign etiquette a deciding factor

I do not yet know who will get my vote for the current election. What I can say is that as I watch the lack of etiquette surrounding political signage around Kane County, I am quickly forming my opinions.

Every citizen has a right to declare their support for a candidate and place a sign, should they choose to, on their own private property. What is appalling to me is that some overzealous political volunteers have taken to destroying the signs of their opponents. Not only is this trespassing on private property, but it is a violation of the supporter's freedom of speech and right to privacy.

All political candidates and their volunteers work very hard, and supporters don't deserve to have their signs torn down, slashed or otherwise damaged.

There also are candidate signs in public parkways and vacant lots, with one candidate's signs in particular which brazenly break the law as often as possible. This inappropriate behavior is the last trait that we need in government, and it is more than enough information to send me running into the arms of the respectful candidate instead.
