Shed a tear over immigration process

Recently, I heard two different perspectives on immigration. First, I listened to the story of two women who escaped from Communist Europe during the 1960s and waited in detention camps for years to get approval to come to America. They explained how the Communist governments would strip religion from towns, break up families to educate youth and create huge lines for services at hospitals so the government would be in control.

To come to America they needed to have a sponsor and a skill. Both were college graduates and had relatives in the United States, who were questioned by authorities. They were so excited to come to America. Many in the detention camps waited as long as 20 years to come because they had no sponsor or were uneducated.

At the end of their stories I saw tears in their eyes. I assumed they were tears of joy but learned later it was sadness about what has become of our country and the immigration process.

That night on the news I heard President Obama explain how he will push for amnesty for all current illegal immigrants without the requirement of a sealed border. Like the lobster in the pot of cold water, he'll never know he's being cooked until it's too late. The water is getting hotter, America. Wake up.
