22 departments fight major barn fire in Maple Park
It took 22 fire departments, about 200,000 gallons of water and nearly 12 hours of work to douse a large fire that destroyed one barn and damaged a second in Maple Park Monday.
Firefighters responded to the blaze on a farm off Meredith Road just south of Welter Road at 9:03 a.m. and found one large barn funny engulfed in fire and a second partially on fire, according to the Maple Park Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious in nature, according to fire officials. Firefighters cleared the scene at approximately 9 p.m.
