Explore art and help inspire an author in Deer Park
Explore handmade and fine art from more than 30 local artisans, plus an interactive art area for kids, at the second ARTumn Harvest Art Festival at Deer Park Town Center.
The hours for this two-day event are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8.
Deer Park Town Center has also announced its newest program, Artist in Residence, taking place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7. The shopping center will welcome children’s book author and illustrator Suzanne F. McGinness for a unique event.
Shoppers, local community partners, and anyone ages 13 and older with a passion for art are invited to sit down with McGinness to help inspire content for a chapter based on Deer Park Town Center in her new book.
Suzanne’s inspiration will come from words, stories and artwork from participants.
“We’re beyond grateful to have Suzanne visit for Artist in Residence and to be a part of her newest children’s book,” said Regina Verdico, marketing director at Deer Park Town Center.
“We’re also incredibly excited to be able to offer this rare opportunity for the community to be a part of something as big as helping Suzanne write and illustrate her book.”
An invitation-only session will take place Friday evening, and an open session will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.
Deer Park Town Center is at the corner of Rand Road and Long Grove Road in Deer Park. For details on the ARTumn Harvest Art Festival or how to contribute to McGiness’s s book, visit ShopDeerParkTownCenter.com.
